More vitality and higher productivity in the workplace

The biggest vitality and productivity leak within any organization: smartphone habits.

With our interventions, organizations strengthen the mental well-being, productivity and digital balance of their employees.

Why Digital Wellbeing is part of a sustainable vitality policy

At a time when mental health is high on the agenda, more and more organizations are opting for structural behavioral interventions as part of their Vitality policy.

Many modules are offered online via smartphones. Well intended, but when opening that app, the employee comes into a digital dominoes visit.

This brings the individual, team and organization further away from focus, creativity, collaboration and mental resilience.

What starts as” checking something " often ends in structural overload. Even after working hours, it is less and less possible to really relax.

Digital overload costs organizations productivity, energy and job satisfaction every day.

Why invest in a healthy smartphone culture?

BUSINESS CASE
What does an unhealthy smartphone culture cost your organization?

An overactive smartphone culture seems innocent-after all, everyone is " reachable and flexible." But in reality, your organization pays a high price for that, every day.

annual costs per burnout
Every interruption costs on average, 23 minutes of recovery time. With a wage cost of €45 per hour, that means around €17 per diversion. With 5 interruptions per day, this amounts to more than €19,500 per employee per year. Invest in attention, and you gain time, rest and productivity.

How does that €17 per diversion come about?

  • Recovery time after interruption: average 23 minutes to be fully concentrated again (source: NRC, 2019).

  • Average wage costs: about €45 per hour including employer's expenses (source: CBS, 2023).

  • Calculation:
    23 minutes = 23/60 hours ≈ 0.38 hours
    Costs per diversion = 0.38 hours × €45 / hour = €17,10

Each distraction costs your organization more than 17 Euros in lost focus and time.

How does that €60,000 to €80,000 per burnout come about?

Duration of absence in case of burnout: average 279 days (over 9 months) (source: TNO, 2023).
Working days: at 5 working days per week that amounts to ± 200 working days.
Daily wage costs: average €45 per hour × 8 hours = €360 per day.
Total labor costs in the event of burnout: 200 days × €360 = €72.000

In addition, there are often additional costs:

  • Replacement or loss of productivity in the team

  • Reintegration and guidance through occupational health and safety services

  • Increased workload and stress among colleagues

Therefore, the total damage per burnout is often estimated between €60,000 and €80,000.

What does it yield?
